I am sure there is a way to do this but I am unable to locate some decent info.

I have a nice virtual debian installation and I want to migrate that installation to a usb thumb drive. What would be the most sane way to do such thing?

Move the VDI and edit its location in vbox config files?

Could you be more specific?
I would like to
1) migrate the full, preinstalled, updated, preconfigured etc. debian system to USB pendrive, and to run from USB, to boot from USB?
2) or to move VDI file to an USB drive and transport it between VirtualBoxes?
3) or to migrate the whole VirtualBox enviroment to USB pendrive?
These all are possible, but what do you want?

I am so sorry, I realized that I did not articulate the issue well, I was writing from my mobile at that moment.

Basically I want to be able to boot from the usb thumb drive which will include the content of the Debian virtual. I do not want to run Virtualbox from usb drive. I just want to copy all the contents of the Debian installation and make the Usb physically bootable(outside of Virtualbox environment).

In that respect I think No 1 is what I am looking for

I can normally install clean Debian on the Usb drive and install other things that are on the virtual Debian etc, but this virtual Debian installation has become quite complex(and works the way I need) that I do not want to undertake such task if it is possible.
