16 to 32 bit display

Post by Whiplash88 »

Ok, sorry new problem. I've got Win XP Pro running in virtual box, with service pack 3. When I try to run any of my older school games on it, there is a notice that comes up and tells me that Virtual Box is currently running 16 bit mode, but is Capable of running in 32 bit mode. I'm not sure how to change this. Obviously, the first thing I tried was going to the control panel and looking at the display settings, and making sure that it was on 32 bit color, not 24, or 16, and that my resolution was where I Wanted it. Its all there, and XP is set to 32, but I don't know how to set VB to 32 bit color. The only other help forums I'm finding are about UBUNTU and that isn't going to help me very much

Thanks for your help in advance :)

A trip to the dusty users manual will give you the answer. http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html

Never considered that your game doesn't go beyond 16 colours? When it starts in full screen, it will change the colour depth to whatever it can handle, up to what the OS has set. Since you're talking about old games, they of course don't have the full 32 bit colour depth.
The notice that you get is just information. You can ignore it if you want.
