VirtualBox on x64 CPU with no VT-x

Hi,
My CPU doesn't support Hardware Virtualization (VT-x) but I still can use VirtualBox and run x32bit Virtual Machines! how is that oissible?!
The reason I am asking about this is just to understand why VB (and VMware too) does that.
