Cannot Locate CD-ROM

Hey guys, I just installed XP Pro in virtual box, mainly just to run simpler/slightly older games on it, that dont seem to work to well with Win 7. In this case, Age of Empires II and its expansion. Win 7 has a horrible color issue, and I refuse to resort to the most popular "hack and slash" solution of just killing my explorer.exe task. So Virtual Box was a great way to get around that :)

I've done this in the past, and had it work, but now after completing the installation of both the Age of Empires II, and Conquerors expansion, it won't recognize the disk in the cd-rom. Every time I go to run the game the error "Cannot locate CD-rom. Please insert the correct disk, click ok, and then restart the application" window comes up. Don't know if maybe you guys might be able to help?

Thanks again :) If you need more details regarding hardware or specs, let me know.

That's from the game when you want to play it? Enable passthrough in the VM settings. Turn the VM off, go to Storage, select the CD drive and when the physical host drive is select, it will be an option. Enable it, start the VM and see how that goes.

Got it :) Turns out I just needed to run my updates. The XP I installed comes with Service Pack 2. I did all of my updates to service pack 3 and the issue was resolved :) Yay!
