VirtualBoxVM hangs when choosing a CD/DVD device

Hi,
whenever I try to choose a virtual CD/DVD disk file or the physical drive with Windows 7 as guest and Mac OS X 10.7 host, both VIrtualBoxVM and VirtualBox hang: The Windows mouse pointer freezes, but there’s the spinning beach ball (by Mac OS X) which is still moving, but VirtualBox and VIrtualBoxVM and thus Windows don’t react any more. I can only kill VIrtualBoxVM, then VirtualBox operates again. The same applies for “Install Guest Additions…”, which also tries to mount the corresponding ISO file.
So I can’t install the guest additions or mount any physical CD/DVD or disk image.
With Linux (Ubuntu and Knoppix) as guest systems mounting CD/DVD drives works without any problem.
Edit: Now I don’t get an error message in Ubuntu, but I can’t access the disks (VEBR_PDM_MEDIA_LOCKED), and in Knoppix I have the same problem like in Windows. So maybe the problem is not Windows guest specific.
Is there any way I can fix this? Should I file a bug report?
