I don't know if it was the upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 on the host or VB 4.1.4, but my XP guest adapter is no longer getting an IP.

Not used a fixed ip before? eventlog entries about lan drivers? lan device visible in device manager?

I tried a fixed ip on a bridged connection, but got not response. I couldn't ping my gateway. Device manager shows the network adapter as installed and working properly. The event log under my network driver is showing no entries.

Bridged??? "NIC 1: MAC: 080027EF46B9, Attachment: NAT" are you sure?

No, it's currently set to NAT as that is my preferred connection type. I'm saying I've tried several network configurations including bridged+static IP. That configuration did not work either.
