Win7 x64 Host and Guest - Quiet Mic in Guest

The microphone volume in my Windows 7 x64 host sounds just fine. The audio DOES pass into the Windows 7 x64 guest machine, but it's about 10-20% of the original volume. If I push the mic boost on the host high enough to hear in the guest machine, it's way too loud and noisy on the host. Any ideas?

I am having the exact same problem:
Host Ubuntu 11.10 x64
Guest WIn 7 x64 Pro

Logitech USB Headset
Audio out works fine
Mic gets passed into windows, but very faint

Looking forward to getting this resolved...the only thing keeping me from getting my GBs back from the *going away* actual win7 partition...
