Hi there Guys,

Im new to Virtualbox, I recently installed it on my mac with windows XP guest, so I can play some of my favourite old games :) but I wanted to use my xbox controller wireless reciever for windows to play some of them. But i'm not entirely sure how to get it working. I lost my driver discs so wanted to try and find the drivers through the device installation wizard in windows XP. However when I plug it in and try to select it under the USB devices icon, i get this error…

Failed to attach the USB device ©Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows [0100] to the virtual machine Windows XP.

USB device '©Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows' with UUID {390636dd-089e-46a5-a968-dd272b8a86a7} is in use by someone else.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: HostUSBDevice
Interface: IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}
Callee: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

Could anyone give me a hand on stopping it being used by "someone else"?

Thanks

The Host probably captured the device first. To avoid this, configure a filter for the device when the VM is turned off. Setting it can be done in the VM settings. Next time you want to use it, boot the VM first, then plug in the device. It should go to the VM now.
