USB issues

Post by bigmeow »

I need to use a check scanner on my Win XP guest. This particular scanner dictated by my bank (CX30) does not initialize itself until after the application tries to talk to it. So this is what happens.

1) I attach the unit to the guest using the Virtual Box Devices menu.
2) Windows sees the unit and it appears in the device manager list.
3) I open the application which tries to access the unit.
4) The unit begins its initialization and disconnects itself and reconnects
5) The unit now appears in the Virtual Box Devices menu as unattached and an by a different name (its name instead of unknown) and of course it is not in the Windows device manager
6) When I try to associate it with the guest again using the Virtual Box Device menu, I get an error this error on the host...

Failed to attach the USB device DCC CX 30 [0001] to the virtual machine WinXP.

USB device 'DCC CX 30' with UUID {ec7df34d-0e2c-44cd-9014-37dafe4eeaad} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_INVALID_ARG (0x80070057)
Component: HostUSBDevice
Interface: IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}
Callee: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

7) At this point, the unit must be power cycled before it will work again. The unit works fine on a native Win XP system. I'm using the latest virtualbox and extensions with usb 2.0 enabled. I get the same behavior if I disable 2.0.
