Cannot load disks into VirtualBox???

I have a Mac OS X Lion (for MacBook Pro) and I downloaded VirtualBox using a Windows Vista operating system. I actually just downloaded the latest version for VirtualBox, should be 4.1.4. The problem is, I can't load any disks into VirtualBox, even after installing the latest VirtualBox version, restarting the Vista Guest operating system, and turning off the VirtualBox manager. The only disk it actually accepted was the Windows Vista operating system. That was it. Why doesn't it load other disks, even though they're Windows-compatible? That's so stupid. I'm starting to wonder if VirtualBox is useful even at all. Is there any way here? Please help.

Shut down (not save) the guest OS. Start the VirtualBox Manager and check the settings for the vm. In the storage section, is the CD/DVD drive set to use the drive in the host? You could also check the box for pass-through.
