I am trying to run a Windows 7 on my Mac OC X 10.5.8.

I am warning you to please explain as simply as possible, because I am not planning to get into this whole field any time soon.

I checked out a few topics with a similar situation but due to the complexity of the wordings, haven't achieved any progress. I plan to use VirtualBox for art programs only available on Windows and may provide prober specific data about my files. I don't want to list everything right now with half of the useless data.

You probably need to start the MAC in 64 bit mode. hold the 6 & 4 key down when you boot.

And run your Mac through Google + vt-x. It's quite possible your Mac is too old and does not support VT-x. A check on the CPU will give you some info too and may be faster.

Have you tried Windows XP instead?
I've never been able to get Win7 to work on 10.5.8 (which I had until quite recently, actually....i was too lazy to upgrade) but XP always worked fine for me. Also, what processor do you have?
Anything that's not 64 bit won't run seven, I think. (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3696 - to check that)

You don't need VT-x for Windows 7 to run. You do need it when you want to use the 64 bit version or give the VM more than one CPU core. My current PC doesn't have hardware-V, but I am able to run W7 in a VM just fine, as long as I pick the 32 bit edition.

If you just want to run W7 like I do, then take a look at the VM settings and disable VT-x/AMD-V in there, under System > Acceleration. If it's greyed out, you have to use the VBoxManage command line utility through Terminal.app. Check the manual for the syntax with modifyvm.
