Need Help Resolving Printer Issue

Post by Freedomcoach »

Hi Everyone:

I'm running Windows 7 in a VM on my macbook. My printer is an HP 7310 Officejet all in one connected via USB. I've installed the VB Guest Additions and selected my printer, installed drivers etc.

Windows 7 acts like everything is fine with the printer, reporting no issues but the printer is not printing. I got it to print from Windows a few days ago and thought all was resolved but now it is not printing again. I'm thinking it might have something to do with ports, confusion between LPT 1 and virtual port. Not sure.

I'm also not sure if I should have printer sharing turned on or off on Windows and also in my mac system preferences. It is confusing and I need to get this working to print some documents. Now I'm thinking maybe I should remove the printer and start again. All help appreciated.

A further development with my printer situation is that as long as I turn on Devices > USB Devices > HP OfficeJet 7300, my printer works in Windows 7 with my VM. However, my printer will not work with my mac applications as long as this is on. I must turn it off in order to print from my mac apps. I presently have printer sharing turned on both inside Windows 7 and in my mac system prefs. Is there some way to have both the host and guest able to print together? This would be very helpful
