win7 64 + various VM#s

Post by vw1701 »

Hello together,

I am brand new in the matter of using VM's, so my problem might be rediculos to you.

On win 7 64bit host, I am running VM for win2K, win XP as well as for a first glance Ubuntu, Fedora and Debian in their latest relases. My computer is a notebook with screen resolution 1366x768.
all machines are limited to 800x600, even after install of the guest addition. I understood that a finer resolution can be adjusted, further more the seamless mode does nt work either.

May be somebody can give me a hint.

thanks, Volker

What you are describing is what would happen if the guest additions were not installed (in the guest)
If however you did install the guest additions (in the guest) and did not see an error massage, make sure that the auto-resize is enabled. (host+G) is the toggle for that.

thks, i just tried again - obviously I installed the guest addition uncorrect ( outside the guest). now I can resize the guest main window,
but windows opened within the guest remain unchanged "big"
is this correct ?

This indicates an unusual guest. One that has been installed on a different host that had larger screen capabilities.
Did you actually install the guest?
