Graphics SW with Win 7

I've installed Win 7 on Mac OSX Leopard 10.6 and I have a problem with graphics software such as 3D Studio 2011 and Maxton Cinema 4D 12. In both cases, when I open a dropdown menu for instance, the menu is partially hidden by other objects such as buttons and drawing screens. If I open a dialog, it appears behind these elements and I have to drag it around a bit before it appears in front of all objects and even then, the screen doesn't refresh properly. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? I've enabled 2D/3D acceleration, but wasn't able to load the 3D Guest additions, since Win7 for some strange bug, doesn't start in safe mode.

That's because you didn't use F8 to enter safe mode. Most likely cause is that your Mac is silly enough to think you want their media keys instead. Change that in system settings of your Mac.
Now, what you see is probably the OpenGL overlay. People with Linux Guests and 3D enabled suffer from the same 'problem'*. Whenever there is something that uses OpenGL as an overlay, or any other 3D method for that matter, menus are hidden behind it. Not much you can do about it. You may want to see if installing 3D Guest Additions helps. If it doesn't, you have to run Windows in Bootcamp to overcome this.
*Linux hosts have the same kind of problem when they play a video with OpenGL output. The video stays on top, even if the player is minimized.

I tried starting Win7 in safe mode, but unfortunately, as soon as the Windows opening screen comes on, the system resets and starts in normal mode. I've done it about a dozen times and for the life of me, I can't get it to start in safe mode. I've checked around and it seems it's a Win7 bug. So I tried installing WinXP 64 bit, but 3dStudio crashes as it's booting. My only alternative is WinXP 32bit and it all works properly...but sooooo slowly!!!!
