Can I install the regular video drivers into Windows

Post by rjadams60 »

Can I install the regular Nvidia video drivers into Windows 7 when it is running as a guest on ubuntu. I have searched the forums and FAQ'a and have read the users manual, but have not been able to find a yes or no answer to this question.

I want to use device manager in Windows 7 guest and switch the video driver from the vbox video driver to the regular nvidia G-force Go 7400 driver for windows 7. Will this work or will it crash guest or host system. I would like to find out the easy way instead of trying it and having to redo everything

Again I apologize if this question has already been answered. I could not find it with the search, or was to dense to understand what the answer was.

No. The virtual machine cannot see your Nvidia card directly so it would be pointless to try to install those drivers in the vm. The vm sees only its own emulated video card.

See 3.2 of the manual.
