Stop Win 7 triggering activation

I'm trying to stop my VM from being triggered to reactivate. "VBoxManage list vms" outputs a uuid, but the Win 7 Guest is not yet activated. Is activation necessary first, then set the hardware uuid to be the same?

There is a long discussion on this in a sticky at the top of this forum.
It is really a Windows issue, not VirtualBox. See this post for an example of it using Microsoft Hyper-V.

Thanks, but I'd prefer to stay with VirtualBox due to it's small footprint and ability to run on any platform.
I've read all the posts as well as downloaded them for reference. There are some smart people who are very good
at using VirtualBox and tend to leave out small but important points. I've exhausted my online activations and must now use the phone. I'd like to have all my "t"s crossed before suing the phone.

Well, I think I described the process quite clearly in the sticky. If you're dealing with a clean install that requires an activation, then you would still need to activate it one way or another. If by chance you find the UUID you used first and enter that has HW UUID, then you might succeed in online activation. Else phone it.
