Snapshots kill internet connectivity

Post by jackp »

I'm running an XP SP2 guest on a Ubuntu 7.10 host.

If I try to take a snapshot, it kills my internet (on the guest only).

Anyone else have this problem?

Any solutions?

I assume that you are running VirtualBox OSE version 1.5.0 or 1.5.2, is that right? The problem you observed was fixed in VirtualBox 1.5.4.

Thanks Frank... you were a 100% correct. I installed virtualbox from Synaptic and didn't realize it was an older version. Updating solved my problem.

On an entirely unrelated matter... your installation recommends adding yourself to the virtualbox users group to be able to access /dev/vboxdrv.
Another way would be to take ownership of the file with a chown command while in root mode.
(sudo chown {user} /dev/voxdrv.)

Right, but please consider a multiuser system where different users are logged in at the same time and want to start VMs. And consider an administrator how wants to forbit some users doing that ... :-)
