Apple keyboard with Windows guest and special characters

Hi,

I'm using a german Apple keyboard with my Mac and have installed a Windows Guest in Virtualbox. The keyboard works well but some special characters are not located where they should be. @ is alt+ctrl+q instead of alt+l, as it is on a standard german keyboard. Same with |, \, <, >, ^, °, ˜ and some others.

Is there something I can do to get the keys properly mapped to my keyboard?

Did you ever manage to solve this issue? I have the exact same problem with a Swiss German Mac keyboard.

This is a problem very often asked form, in the forum.
One solution I found is this
http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic. ... win#p39479

If you search the forum for "keyboard windows" you will get over 100 hits, for questions about keyboard and character-mappings, and several solutions to solve them.

Hi,

I actually found a solution using a custom build keymap for Parallels by Stefan Bohm. This keyboard layout works also for Virtualbox. I described the solution here:

I use Windows 7 under VirtualBox on an iMac with Snow Leopard and German keyboard. The Windows registry hack presented in http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2996 works for me.
