Enable USB Controller

Post by wmackey73 »

I have a very recent (45 days) macbook pro OSX 10.7.1 Lion host with W7 guest.

I have VirtualBox 4.1.0 r73009. I clicked check for updates, but I get "You are already running the most recent version."

I tried to use a USB device and it is unselectable. Enable USB Controller is unselectable.

I tried downloading Oracle VM Virtualbox Extension Pack, but it says I already have it. I tried reinstalling it and I got an error: Incompatible Library Version - Requires 4.1.2 - Result Code NS_Error_Failure 0x80004005. I tried downgrading to 4.0 and I got the same error code.

I admit I do not think I have set up passthrough. I can't find it in the manual or forums. How does that work? Is that what I need to do to get these USB devices working in the VM? Please help.

The VirtualBox version and the Extension Pack version *must* match.
Go here and get the newest version of both and it should help.

Thank you very much PerryG.

I now have matching virtualbox and extension.

I still am unable to select Enable USB Controller or any USB devices plugged in. They register but are greyed out. What am I missing?

Did you reboot the host?
