Help: Win7 64-bit host fails to open session on VM

Post by khtan »

Hi,

I downloaded VirtualBox-4.1.2.073507-Win.exe because it indicates both x86/amd64,
and I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

After installation, when I tried to run a previously created virtual machine,
I get the following error.

| Failed to open a session for the virtual machine dell-xppro.
|
| No error info.
|
| Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
| Component: ProgressProxy
| Interface: IProgress {c20238e4-3221-4d3f-8891-81ce92d9f913}

Does VirtualBox work on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine?
If yes, please let me know how to remedy this problem.

Thanks in advance,
khtan

Oops! Operator error.

The problem was that the path to the .vdi files were missing.

So, VirtualBox 4.1.2 does work for 64-bit Windows 7.

I got this error too, (no error, E_FAIL), and it turns out that my virtual hard disk file got corrupted. Uh oh.
