Can't paste from Excel 2010 to Mac OS 10.7.1
A user pointed this out and I seem to be able to reproduce.
Running Windows 7 32-bit in VB 4.1.2 on Mac OSX 10.7.1...
If a user creates a spreadsheet in Excel 2010, they can copy things from the Mac OSX Host OS and paste into Excel 2010.
However, they can not do the reverse. (However, copy/pasting *within Excel 2010* in the VM works fine).
PowerPoint 2010 seems to have the same problem (can't copy/paste to the Mac, but can copy from Mac and paste into the VM), but, oddly enough, Word 2010 works fine both ways.
I've reinstalled the 4.1.2 guest additions, to no avail.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

do you remember that copy past is control + C and then when you past it inside you lion it is command + V? since that was my mistake in the beginning?

Yes -- it's not just using the keyboard commands -- I have the same problem when I use the menus/ribbon "copy" commands.
Things like Notepad -- work fine. Just (it appears) Excel and PowerPoint 2010.

Try check the setting on VB.
Settings / General / Advanced / Shared Clipboard - put bidirectional - if you use 4.1.2 (I think)

It is set for Bidirectional.
Remember -- from my original post -- I *can* copy/paste in both directions from Word 2010 in the VM to the Mac side.
I just can't -- in both directions -- from Excel/PowerPoint 2010.

Haha sorry about that. My habit that I always do, never read the whole paragraph ... just direct to the point (according to my thinking).
It doesn't work for me either. I have Office 2008 (Mac) and Office 2007 (Win 7). It work fine between guest/win 7/excel 2007 and guest/pclinuxos/libreOffice-Calc and vise versa. Also between host/mac/excel 2008 and guest/pclinuxos/LO-Calc.

Re: Can't paste from Excel 2010 to Mac OS 10.7.1
I created bug ticket 9574.
If you could append to this with your results with Excel 2007 -- that would be helpful. (And test PowerPoint 2007, too?)
I wonder what it is that lets Word work, but not Excel/PowerPoint?

The 4.1.4 update, unfortunately, does not fix this.
I can copy from the Mac into Excel 2010, but not the reverse. Word 2010 works as expected both ways, though.
Anybody have any suggestions about this?

Keep a scratch file open with NotePad or Notepad++.
I have been doing that to collect material from Excel, and then from there paste into something on the Mac.
Likely other apps will work.
No clue why.

Re: Can't paste from Excel 2010 to Mac OS 10.7.1
Pasting from Excel to MAC does in fact work. THere are some things to keep in mind. What I am copying (cell, number, etc.) and where I am pasting to.... THe use of the Clipboard in Windows apps is key here. With Excel, in particular - it seems the cell won't copy, but the contents will - this is a cpommon mistake many people make with trying to copy and paste. Since you don't give any specifics, it is hard to tell you what you are doing that doesn't produce the result you want.
Cheers,

Re: Can't paste from Excel 2010 to Mac OS 10.7.1
So here's a specific example that does not work:
On the Mac side -- 10.7.1 -- I launch Excel 2011 (fully patched) and type "mac" in cell A1 and "1" in cell A2 in the blank spreadsheet that comes up.
I launch Excel 2010 after rebooting Windows 7 (32 bit) running in VirtualBox 4.1.4 (all patches installed for MS apps and Windows as of 10/11's Patch Tuesday today)
In the blank spreadsheet that comes up in VB, I type "windows" in cell A1 and "2" in cell A2
I select cells A1 and A2 on the Mac version of Excel, go to the Edit menu and select "copy".
I go to the Windows version of Excel, select cell B1 and click the "Paste" icon. "mac" and "1" are pasted to cells B1 and B2 -- as expected.
I now select cells A1 and A2 in Windows Excel. I click the "copy" icon.
I switch back to Mac Excel and select cell B1
I go to the Edit menu -- and Paste is greyed out.
Which is how you'd normally expect to copy/paste between Excel spreadsheets.
You *are* correct in that if I select the text of "windows" within the cell, then I *can* copy that and paste that to Mac Excel.
But that's not how you'd normally expect to copy and paste data between Excel spreadsheets.

Re: Can't paste from Excel 2010 to Mac OS 10.7.1
I have been having a same kind of problem.
In my case, I can't paste powerpoint text on Windows7 guest to Mac OSX Lion host.
While I can copy and paste text of web browser or stickies kinda app on the guest to the host.
I doubt Office Clipboard.
I have to take a detour to the host.
