New User with VB (delete\save session?)

I have just installed VB onto my Win 7 Prof host. Guest is Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. As fo r the version of VB I have installed? I am at a loss. I have selected Debian from the drop-down list but not sure this is correct. How do I find out exactly which I have installed? Downloaded\installed version is 4.1.2 but that is as much as I know.

A couple of question to get me going in the right direction.

Is is possible to close without saving changes to guest? If so how?
(enabling the installation of programs etc for testing purposes but not needed later)

Is it possible to use the HOST clipboard for copying and pasting into Guest. Also allow dragging and dropping from host to guest and vice-versa? At present I am working with a work-around but would prefer to have the above facilities.

If the above can be enabled and I would have to use the command line please be gentle with your answers as I have very little experience with command line. So if this the route I would have to take could you please give FULL and explicate instructions.

This is a frequently asked question, and can be found in the VirtualBox FAQ. Debian is a Linux distribution, so you obviously made the wrong selection. I'm guessing you also installed the ExtPack, so the version to pick is PUEL. Else OSE-Other is needed, but PUEL will do just fine.

Check the User Manual and look for Immutable disk. Setting that will reset all changes to the VDI upon next VM start.

Enable bidirectional clipboard in the VM settings (default setting) and install the Guest Additions. Only text can be copied, binaries don't work. DnD is a much requested feature, but not yet available.

Thanks for the reply. I now have VB running as I want. Pity about lack of copy\paste.

Work is being done, but we don't know when it will be finished. We hope it's a feature in 4.2, but you never know until it's in beta or released as final.
