guest additions removal before export appliance ?

Hi Guys : Do I have to remove "guest additions" before exporting an appliance of a VM ? I want my VM to be loaded on 5 or 6 different machines, and am afraid that, because I already but the Guest Additions on it, it wont load correctly.

Is it true to expect that Guest Additions will be platform dependent on the host, potentially making an image unusable on export ?

Only if there are other virtualizers on the other hosts (like vmware, parallels).

The guest additions are no native drivers for hosts hardware. So it works on every host, if the guests boot on it.

So ..... Are the guest additions saved in the disk image ? Or the host ?

???

The ISO is on the Host, its the installer. By installing you install them in the guest.

So then, If you install guest additions, on the guest, and then "export" an image of the guest --- you will then have a
"host-specific" vm which is optimized for that particular host ? right ?

That is --- Are Guest Additions installed on the OS ? Or on the VBox host ? By "Guest" I mean the "VM OS"... Maybe my syntax is incorrect.

i.e.
Lets say I :
1) Download VBox for OS X
2) Add a VM, (fedora 14)
3) Install guest additions on the VM via the "Devices" Menu
4) Export a VM image

Now my VM image will be specific to OS X ... right ?

No. Its specific for every VBOX host.

In some scenarios it does not work (different CPUs), but mostly it does.
