Hi,
I am encountering a problem with V4.1.2 r73507 reaching 100% CPU after I a dialog box and attempted to drag an object from it. This happens 100% of the time. Even when I gave it 30mins, it still does not settle down, the only resolution that I can do is to select Close - Power off the machine. This issue is not in V4.0.8. Can anyone advise how to resolve this?
Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Jacky
[Note: Both my host and guest are Win 7 x64]

Please be more specific. Which dialog boxes are you talking about? In the guest or on the host? Dialog boxes from VirtualBox or from another application?

Re: VBox 4.1.2 hangs (100% CPU) when multiple dialog box opened
In the guest, when I am using JDEV in the guest. To be more specific, I am using the BPM suite 11.1.1.5. Open a user task, go to the implementation tab, select the Input / Output Mapping, click the "+", in the opened dialog by the side, selected the "Quote" schema. When I try to do dragging, the CPU in the guest shot up to 100% and hanged...
Did further testing, after uninstalled the 4.1.2 guest addition in the guest OS, it is ok. I also uninstalled the 4.1.2 host and installed back the 4.0.8 host, it is also ok. I then reinstalled back 4.1.2 host, and installed the guest addition in the guest, making sure that I did not select the 3D stuff (just to make sure it has nothing to do with it), still hang after I dragged...
I then uninstalled the 4.1.2 guest addition in the guest os, the problem is gone. It seems that the 4.1.2 guest addition has problem...
In summary:
4.1.2 Host with 4.1.2 Guest Addition in the Guest OS --> Hang
4.1.2 Host without 4.1.2 Guest Addition in the Guest OS --> OK.
4.0.8 Host, all ok.
PS: My Guest was intially using 4.0.8 with 4.0.8 Guest Addition. After I upgraded to 4.1.2 VBox and installed the 4.1.2 Guest Addition the problem occur.
In summary again, I feel the problem is with the 4.1.2 Guest Addition.
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, sounds definitely like a bug in the 4.1.2 guest additions. No idea though we the problem is...

Re: VBox 4.1.2 hangs (100% CPU) when multiple dialog box ope
I too have this, or very similar, problem. It started when I installed 4.1.2.
I'm running a Dell M6500 with 4gb or ram on Ubuntu 11.04 x64. I have two Win 7 x64 that will run fine for a variable about of time until the processor spikes to 100% usage. I am unable to do anything on the system. I can only hold power switch for 4 seconds for a hard shutdown. As it stands now, I can't use VirtualBox at all.

I hope they can do something about this soon. BTW, I only give my VBox 1/2 the CPUs, so it will not kill the host...

Still getting lockups with 4.1.4 on Ubuntu 11.04, 11.10 and Fedora 15.
Any clues as to the problem?

Re: VBox 4.1.2 hangs (100% CPU) when multiple dialog box ope
I think I have solved my lockups by turning off hyperthreading in the bios.
After turning it off, I've been running multiple VM's for over three hours now whereas before I could run about 3 mins.
This is on my Dell M6500.
