VM hangs while rebooting

Post by jcwi65 »

Has anyone experienced problems with Windows guest rebooting in the VM after updates are installed? I always have to reboot the VM through the reset command under the machine menu.

Yes, I have, but it was with an older release. I believe it had to do with a fixed leak of thread and process handles in VBox. I don't have that problem anymore since having updated to a more recent version. At the moment I am using 4.1.2 and reboots after MS updates are not an issue.

Strangely enough, although I am running 4.1.2, I'm seeing the same symptom on Windows XP "restart"
after a Windows update ... Windows apparently never finishes shutting down (although no disk
activity shows) and I have to do a hard "reset". This is running on an Mac OS X host. Not a big deal,
but a bit of a nuisance ... it would be nice to be able to make this one go away.

Thanks.

Have you tried turning the absolute pointer off in the guest settings?
