I have done a few p2v using Symantec Backup 2010 of Server 2003 systems. They have all worked great but one. This one when I boot it up in VirtualBox it gets past the splash screen and then you just get a black screen. For a few minutes the hard drive wails around real good and then it eventually stops.

I tried booting into Safemode and safemode works fine.

Is there anyway to debug what is going on during the black screen part? Maybe turn some logging on in safemode, reboot, hangs, reboot into safemode and view logs?

Just as a test I tried the VM in VMWare Workstation and it did the exact same thing. As a final effort I created a new p2v from the machine and it did not work either.

Any other ideas?

I figured it out. After trying to disable a "million" services I tried disabling devices in device manager. One rogue one that I installed recently was some Airplay drivers for my ipad. I disabled that and boom it works now.
