Backing up / Transporting a Guest or a Snapshot

Post by normvcr »

I am running an XP guest on VB 4.1 installed on my linux PC.
What files do I need to back up and transport to another PC in order to be able to run the same guest on the 2nd host?
I want to avoid needing to re-install XP from scratch.
I assume, at a minimum, the Snapshot vdi file, but there must be more, as the vdi is only 0.5 MB in size.

Hi,

you may have a look to "Appliance Exporting"...

A dirty way is to copy your users .VirtualBox directory to your new system, but you may have to
reconfigure parts of your VirtualBox. Also pay attention to you Virtual Machines directory.
