Hello,
I've got a strange problem with my windows (2xWindows 7, 1x Windows 2008R2) guests on my MAC PRO host.
The problem ony occurs using bridge networking (NAT is working well but not an option in my case).
Problem: The guest has no network access at all... Donig a wireshark trace on both the host and guest I could see that packets from the guest are transmittet form to the host and form there to the destiantion. The answer packet is transmitted from the destination to the host and from there it never reaches the guest...
For example (ARP):
ARP Req. Guest -> Hosts -> Dest.
ARP Repl. Dest -> Host ----- nothing.....
So, if I'm running wireshark on the guest (yes, I have changed the networking settings to allow promic.mode) I don't see any incoming packets and no broadcasts...
What I have done so far:
- used to other gbic card in my mac-pro
- reinstalled osx (erased the hd before)
- setup a completly new guest os (win 7 32 Bit)
I have no further idea on what I'm doing wrong...
Thank you very much,
Markus

Re: OSX 10.6.8 Windows 7 Guest problems with bridge networki
Hello,
have you been able to resolve this problem? Do you have any clues on what to look at to troubleshoot this?
I am having a similar issue. On one machine, OS X 10.6.8 host, Windows 7 x64 works perfectly fine, and networking also. But on an older MacPro (64 bit extensions not supported), OS X 10.5.8 host, Windows 7 x64 is not able to connect to the network.
I am trying with the exact same virtual machine using Bridged Adapter Networking.
Thanks!

Have you tried specifying a different NIC type for the guests? I believe the default should be Intel, you might want try one of the PCnet adapters.
Before you change that, try manually setting the NIC interface speed instead of letting it auto-detect. Fix it at 10/100 and/or try full/half duplex.
I have seen this exact problem before, but I do not recall what the fix was.
