Copy/Pasting into Virtual Box

I'm pretty new to virtual box but for quite a while now I've had to endure typing every line of code out instead of just copy/pasting from my notes. I know it's possible to copy stuff from my normal OS and paste it into my Gentoo vm but I can't figure it out

It's probably really easy but I've searched and the only results are giant walls of irrelevant text

atm I'm just installing Gentoo (or trying to) and it would be 10x easier for me if I could get this working

bi-directional copy/paste requires that the guest additions be installed (in the guest)

And a graphical environment. If you don't have Xorg going, you're better off installing OpenSSH-Server first so you can at least use ssh to access the shell remotely. Then it's just app to app copy/paste like browser to notepad.
