Like subject, i'm searching on the manual but don't find anything for this question. I'm using the 98% of time the windowed mode of virtualbox, but the software don't remember the position of vm. It start always top-left position, i move to bottom-right but the next vm boot it remain to top-left.
There is a way to set xy position to a vm, or simply save the position before closing it? I don't want to change it everytime

My version is 4.0.8
Thanks for support

My vm windows always open where they were they were closed. I believe this is done by the Windows OS, not by Virtualbox. Windows should remeber where a particular window was when it was closed and put it back in the same place.

Same here, but I don't believe Windows does the memorizing. All apps will store this info somewhere themselves, e.g. Windows apps will usually put this in the Windows registry or in an .ini file, but in VBox's case it gets stored it in the .vbox xml - e.g. :-
Code: Select all
<ExtraData>
<ExtraDataItem name="GUI/LastGuestSizeHint" value="1152,864"/>
<ExtraDataItem name="GUI/LastNormalWindowPosition" value="377,62,1152,905"/>
</ExtraData>

That makes sense. Windows would remember where the VirtualBox manager window was (since that is a Windows app) but VBox would need to remember the vm windows itself. I wonder why it doesn't work for the OP?

Well, I would check to see if the .vbox file is being updated with the window position. In particular I'd be looking for mistakes like marking the .vbox file read-only.

my problem is not the position but the scroll bars... I'm using bigger resolution in guest than in host.. so I need scrollbars.. but each time I start the machine scroll bars are not there... if I resize the window a bit then they appear. But I don't like to have to do that everytime.
