I've been happily using a win7 virtual machine for a month or so (base memory 2Gb with 4 processors, 30 Gb vmdk - although not much of this is being used).
But now, in the last week or so, when ever I shut down the machine (using the usual Windows shutdown command), it shuts down but I then don't seem to be able to re-start the machine; after the Windows logo shows, I then just get a black screen. There appears to be some disk activity, but I've left it for 20 mins and still the screen is black. I'm having to restore a running snap-shot each time just to start the machine - then it starts in the running state from which the snap was taken, I have about 5 active snapshots in total.
I did wonder if my virus scanner might be scanning the large reserved amount of space, but switching on demand scanning off doesn't fix the problem. I'd appreciate any suggestions for how to overcome this.
Thanks for you help!
