Windows 7 64bit using virtio-net

Hello,

I tried to setup on Windows 7 64bit the "Paravirtualized Network" adapter (a.k.a. virtiio-net) using the latest VirtIO Win driver from fedora project (posted on 15-Jun-2011) but it didn't work. Is there anyone else who has tried this with a better result?

Thank you,
Nikos

Works fine with the Red Hat virtio-win-1.1.16.iso download for both Win7 and Server 2008 R2 for me.

I assume that you haven't tried this one virtio-win-0.1-mm34.iso from http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/virtio-win ?

This is where users will end up if they follow the manual of VirtualBox for the Virtual Networking and after that the URL to download the binary drivers for windows guest. At least that was the path I followed and it didn't work.

A newer version of virtio-win that worked for me is available here

I remember the grief I had trying to get a working virtio-net driver - can this simply not be made part of the VBox install?

AFAIK you should self sign the drivers, did you do that?

    * Drivers should be signed for Windows 64bit platforms.
    * Here are some links how to self sign and install self signed drivers:

I just had the same issue, using the floppy image worked for me though (virtio-win-1.1.16.vfd from the fedoraprojects site)

I would like to say, the ISO with the virtio driver for windows 7 did solve the problem re0: watchdog timeout!
