Bridged Nic - how to set up static IP?

Hi all,

I have a setup where the guest must get the static IP of 192.168.1.10 (for instance). On the host I setup one of the NICs for this address, then start the guest. So on the guest, I make sure it is set to BRIDGE and then within the guest itself I put in the static IP of 192.168.1.10.

(edited)
I re-read my above post and thought I could clarify it a bit...
If I have a guest that I want to get a static IP, how do I set it up?
- HOST system - is this set to the static IP or dhcp?
- GUEST - is this set to the static IP or DHCP?

Or should they both be the same IP? Or different IPs such as host = 192.168.5.11 and the guest as 192.168.5.10?

Thanks for any and all help,
Rob

Hello,
I'm using a CentOS 5.6 host, with two virtual machines running (Ubuntu 11.04 Server -text mode only-) on VirtualBox. I dealed with the guests to go out using NAT, works fine, but when it comes to the bridged mode... i can't even see the eth0 interface in the guest by ifconfig (only the loopback interface)...
