Virtualbox to test intersite replication

Hi

Ive had a windows domain setup much like the one in howto http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=36181 using xp machine as a gateway.

I was looking at testing intersite replication between two domain controllers on different networks.

I was wondering if anyone could share there network setups in virtualbox to have two seperate networks and carry out intersite replication.

Thanks for your help

That is a pretty tall order. I have used virtualization software to do that but it is not simple (and is really a networking problem rather than a virtualization one). How are you going to set up the two networks for the sites? How are you going to emulate the site to site link?

I actually used two host machines and set up one site as vms on each host. I then used the LAN (to which the hosts connect) to emulate the Internet. If you want the emulation to be realistic you need to tunnel the traffic between the hosts (VPN or IPSec).

Hi,

For testing networks I have recently developed GNS3 Network Simulator -- VirtualBox Edition.

GNS3 is a category-killer app, and really beats everything competition has to offer hands-down.
I think you should try it out. It is Free/Open-Source Software.
