e-Sata Hot-plug doesn't work on host anymore

Post by brumagnj »

Hi,

I made some customizations on my Win 7 Pro 64-bit (host), and also installed Virtualbox to run a "better XP mode" than the MS one ^^

Since I made those modifications and installed Virtualbox, the e-sata disks aren't detected anymore.
But if I connect them trough USB all's fine, except for the transfer rate ^^

I remember Virtualbox has made some modifications on a few drivers on the host OS.
Is it possible that Virtualbox replaced the sata drivers in my host OS, which are not ahci and/or hot-plug capable anymore ?

Best regards,

Jean

You have to take a look at the changes you made outside of VB. VB does not touch eSATA in any way. If there is something wrong with your eSATA support, VB didn't cause it.

Hello,

You're right, in fact I upgraded the Bios and my secondary controller, where are located the esata ports, was set in IDE mode instead of AHCI mode.
Now all works perfectly and VirtualBox is still installed and functioning.
