Internet not working after installing SciTech Display Doctor

Hi. I tried to search for this in the forums but could not find any good answer for it.
I installed Windows ME recently, since the generic VGA driver in my ME cd is not that good I installed SciTech Display Doctor to get better resolution etc.
As long as I do not activate the graphic adapter from SciTech my connection works.
If I activate the adapter it wont allow me to connect to internet, so somehow it interferes with my driver for the network card.

Anybody that has a solution?

You could try installing the BearWindows universal VESA driver instead. IMHO it's the better option anyway.

Thanks for the reply mpack.
I started with SDD because it is the driver suggested in this thread.
I also gave BearWindows universal VESA driver a try but it always results in the "green screen" with the garbled graphics.

Is there some specific version of the driver that I should use and/or some specific settings I should apply?
Currently I'm using the latest version from the BearWindows website with 128MB RAM/8MB video RAM/no accelleration.

Thanks!

Better try installing the games under XP. Dos based Windoze is not well supported by Vbox.

For DOS Games better use DosBox. Or for Windows games use WINE under Linux.

Thanks for the tip Stefan.
The idea behind using WinME is that they are much less memory-hungry. So, with a 128MB RAM VM you should be able to play quite a lot of old games.

Do you know if Win98SE are any more stable than WinME when using vbox?

Could you suggest how mych RAM should I allocate to XP for playing late-90's games? (Fallout 1/2 and Jagged Alliance 2 are the first to come in mind.)

I will also give wine another try. I tried WineBottler (OSX) but it didn't work out very well for me.

Thanks!

All Versions (9x, ME) are crappy. Many old games work with XP in a VM, that is the best solution, if you want to use VBOX. Sorry, but it is as it is.

They're not unstable, just unsupported. And without a sensible graphics driver, Windows 9x is unusable.
