Help accessing or mounting USB hard drive

Hey what's up guys?

I've been trying to figure out how to connect my USB external hard drive to my Virtual Box Virtual Machine and am having a lot of trouble with it. I have tried other suggestions on this forum such as changing the USB settings on my Virtual Machine but I'm still having issues.

My host computer is an iMac with OS X 10.6.7. I am running Windows XP with SP 3 in Virtual Box. Everything runs fine and smooth, I just have a lot of files and programs I'd like to bring into Windows but I can't get the drive to connect. Every time I connect the drive to my iMac, the Mac picks it up but not Windows.

I have also tried Shared Folders (selected both the drive and also a folder just on my iMac) and still no luck :(

This is a big problem for me and any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

I also need to mount my mp3 player with the Windows guest (it's a SanDisk player that works with Rhapsody)

Never mind the part about the mp3 player. I just need good directions on either how to mount my USB drive or to create and access a shared folder to my USB drive

Chapter 4.3 Shared folders in your VirtualBox users guide pretty much says it all.
Windows guests are just about the easiest so if you read and follow the instructions you should end up with a shared folder.
