macos is not supported, because its not a valid use in apples license.

i dont understand. 10.6.7 worked fine for me, the problem occurred with the update. i also noticed that i cant install a new vm. when i select efi in bootloader to begin a new installation the same error occurres. only a copy of my vdi which i made months ago and which contains 10.6.7 works.

What do you not understand? Apples License forbid it. Its only allowed on Mac OS Server Hosts.
So you cant get support here.

The problem is not whether the Operating System is supported or not.I am currently stuck with this problem. It works fine after some "Settings" tweaks

I have the same problem trying to boot a Snow Leopard (10.6) DVD image (.iso image) on Lion (10.7) using VB 4.1.12.
@RahulC: What settings did you tweak to get it to work ??

Re: Virtualbox Mac OSX 10.6.8 kernel panic error occurred
This shows up in google results for the question and is annoying to those searching for real answers so I will provide some general information about booting Operating Systems to answer the question while not violating any legal or licensing information.
Modern Operating system make use of a Kernel to boot, sometimes to get an OS to boot in VirtualBox the kernel of the OS is replaced, some Kernels have options such as 32 or 64 bit or bus ratios etc and you might need to specify these at the command line to make the OS boot properly. Also you want to make sure that during an update the kernel was replaced properly, if you have 2 kernel files the boot loader might load the incorrect kernel.
Virtual Box works with almost any OS, but not all uses of Virtual Box are Legal and you are using it at your own risk in that situation.
