Tips for best 3D performance in guest

I am running older 3d games in a virtualbox windows guest on a Linux host. I understand the performance impact of gaming in a VM...I am running the VM at lower resolution, and the games at lower detail settings, etc.

For better 3D performance, should I run the guest in full screen mode (e.g. 1024x768 guest full screen mode on a 1680x1050 host)?

Any tips for getting better 3D performance in the VM?

Only one Tip: Start the games native.

Or use WINE on Linux Hosts.
