WIN2008R2 Guest OS Won't Load after copying files

Post by cfgunny »

I just installed VBox 4.0.8 on Windows Vista 64 bit OS. I used the command line extract and installed the 64 bit version. Install went OK and I started VBox Manager, created a new VM. I have PAE/NX selected under system. I have USB disabled. I'm trying to install 64 bit Windows 2008 R2I guest OS. have I mounted en_windows_server_2008_r2_standard_enterprise_datacenter_and_web_with_sp1_x64_dvd_617601.iso under the IDE controller. When I start the guest, it executes the ISO file and copies files. As soon as the OS install tries to execute, it stops and I get an error
File: \windows\sys32\boot\winload.exe
Status: 0xc000035a
Info: Attempting to load a 64 bit application, however thus CPU is not compatible with 64 bit mode

I have a 64 bit host OS with 64 bit VBox installed and am trying to install 64 bit Windows 2008 R2. Any Advice?

You need to have a processor with virtualization support (VT-x/AMD-V). If you do have a processor that supports VT-x then you also need to enable it in the host bios.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty dumb, right now. I ran the tool from Microsoft and My CPU does not support hardware virtualization. Time for a new computer. Yehaa!
