Hi all,
running VB on ubuntu 10.04 64bit I used the "VBoxManage modifyhd" command to successfully modify the hd my win xp virtual machine resides on. Increased size from 20gb to 30gb. Dynamic hd usind currently about 14gb of space.
Now "VBoxManage showhdinfo" will report the correct size of 30gb for the hd. The gui will report 30gb fot the hd. Gparted on a live-cd reports only 20gb for the hd as does win xp itself. From this I conclude there are still only 20gb usable.
Any ideas how I can fix this?
Modified HD size won't show up in win XP

You have increased the size of the virtual hard drive. Now use Gparted to increase the size of the partition.
NOTE: If you have snapshots the resize will not work because it increases the base image and you are not working on the base image with snapshots.

Gparted only sees 20GB total drive space. There is no 10 gb empty space as you would expect!
EDIT: and I am working with snapshots, which explains the behaviour, I guess.

after removing all snapshots it worked just fine. Thanks for pointing that out.
