[SOLVED]Not able to write to shared drive in Windows 7 guest

Post by cha0s6983 »

As subject says, it's not read-only, that's unchecked.
showvminfo wrote:Shared folders:

Name: 'media', Host path: '/media/Elements/media' (machine mapping), writable
Name: 'sound-dev', Host path: '/media/Elements/media/sound/dev' (machine mapping), writable
Any advice? Please and thanks! :)

EDIT: I saw this http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic. ... red+folder but figured I'd make a new topic. I have checked and my shares are NOT readonly (as you can see in my info above)!

Try writing in this directory direct on the host. If this fails, this is not a vbox problem and you must use a proper drive / directory for this.

I can... and I also run:

Code: Select all

lsof | grep /media/Elements/media
On the host and nothing is locking it. I'm really confused!

EDIT: I have also tried with it mapped as a drive (M:), and through the \\VBOXSVR\media URI. Neither work.

I rebooted the guest and it worked now. Argh! Sorry to waste everyone's time. =)
