I have just setup another Win 7 Prof VM in VB 4.0.8 and it fails in a particular way.
It installed Win 7 without any problem and when rebooted by the installation wizard started correctly.
Subsequently if you choose the shutdown/restart it will shutdown and startup but hangs after the pretty logo is displayed but before the Welcome screen.
The logo does some of its variation in intensity but then everything stops. The Virtualbox.exe consumes 13 % of a 3.2GHz 4 core system but it never completes and presents the Win 7 Welcome screen. Running the Windows Repair option seems to correct the problem but if you choose shutdown and then restart from the Virtualbox GUI it starts correctly.
My other machines set up prior to VB 4.0.8 do not exhibit this problem.
Has anyone seen this on their machines or is it something in mine?

Re: Win 7 Shutdown/Restart hangs
Problem has gone away after another re-instal of VirtualBox 4.0.8.
I don't know what caused it.
