cant boot my desktop computer from windows guest

Hi everybody! my first time here!
I am running win7 guest at ubuntu natty host. in my laptop, i managed to install windows guest at raw partition as explained in the manual, and I was able to boot the laptop from this installation .. I mean, actually boot the physical machine from an installation made inside my virtual machine. Everything worked flawlessly!
Now I am trying to do the same in my office desktop ( same ubuntu, same virtualbox 4.0.8, same windows cd). The virtual machine works fine, but I cant boot the physical machine from windows partition. I tried installing the drivers from the virtual machine, but no luck.
The behaviour is as follows: the physical machine boots, but at the windows starting screeen, the computer halts a few moments and then restarts itself.
Any hints? tried to be as brief as possible. Thankyou in advance!

It crashes due to difference in hard disk controller. This is a known problem with Windows and unless it's installed on the controller it's meant to start on, it will not work well. Only way to get it to work, is to use hardware profiles. Create a blank one for the physical hardware in case you installed Windows in a VM first. That should get something going.

thankyou Sasquatch, it has been long since stopped trying. I will try this weakend, as something similar is happening at my laptop after kernel updates.

Hi Sasquatch,
thank you for your suggestions. I am not a Windows expert (well, not an expert in anything), and I can not find hardware profiles in the windows 7 installation.
I tried to do it the other way around: I made a raw install for this win 7 partition, and then tried to access it with vbox. Now the behavior is the same than before, but when the machine is accessed from vbox. I can not install Guest additions if VBox controllers are not active. Is there any way to install guest additions this way?
I will keep searching for win 7 hardware profiles. Thankyou for your help!

If the move is P2V, then you have to put the VM on the IDE controller instead. It defaults to SATA and that's where Windows is going wrong now.
