Using Virtual Box to run preinstalled opperating system

Post by Rabid Snail »

Im sorry if this is an impossible question, but i am new to using virtual box. Currently i have a PC with windows installed on one partition, and OSX installed on another. I can boot to either one, but i want to also be able to use virtual box to run OSX from inside windows if i just need to access something from it for a quick moment. Is there a way to do this, of because virtual box creates its own system image is it impossible?

Yes, its possible. But its not a scenario for beginners. Start with standard and create an image. If you have more experience, then try the other way.

For this have a look into the manual (raw disk acces) and the tutorial section.

This is an unsupported and illegal combination. PCs don't come with Apple Mac OSX. Nor does VB allow OSX to be installed or run on PCs. It has to be on Apple hardware and OSX Server. That's the only OS that's allowed to run in a VM. See Important notice regarding Mac OS X as Guest.
