Stuck on logging in screen HELP

Hey,
I have been using ubuntu on vbox for a while and i recently ran out of room on the harddrive that i gave to the VM, i then used (tried to) CloneVDI to attempt to expand the hard drive. Didnt really know what i was doing so i deleted the clone vdi that it made, now when i log in on the VM i put in my password and it just hangs there loading. I dont know how to fix it and i would really appreciate some help.
Plz help i have some movies on the VM that i would like to keep.

Oh also i got an error message when i opened up virtualbox before this and it said that a hard drive was missing which i had deleted because i had made it just before and i couldnt access it on the VM. Plz helppppppp
