how to fix vm image not found after folder rename

Post by ryadav »

I created a image of winxp and decided to naming convention to rename a folder where .vbox and relevant files reside. I don't see a way in the VB Manager to point to the new location?

Under File and Machine menu option, 'settings...' is disabled, also if I right-click of the vm image in the left panel of the UI the pop-up menu has settings disabled.

I've tired machine add, but I get an error telling me to make sure the VM has the same UUID.

How can I tell VB Manager where to find the relocated files?

You can edit the main files, or re-add the VMs that are now inaccessible. If you just changed the folder name of the VDI storage, then release and unregister the VDI files, then add them again and register them to the VM they belong.

Thanks that worked, after removing the old image, I was able to re-add the image again!
