Possible issues with capturing

Post by inarariver »

As of recently when I have used VB (I have the newest version installed) when I am trying to put in my passwords or just trying to type all I am getting are numbers, no matter what key I push, be it a letter or a number. The numbering seems to go from 0-9 and then repeat itself. For example: I need to type a 10 to type the 0 of that I have to go all the way through 1-0 to finally get to the 0. Also when i am in there when typing words, I only get numbers, so I am trying to type "dcpromo.exe" the letters come up as number. Yet outside VB, I dont have any keyboard issues.

I am using VB for a Windows server 2008 class, and am in my 8th week and been having this issue since the 4th week. At first I thought it was me and my computer, after reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling VB and the Server file, I continue having this trouble. I cant even get past the password login screen because it keeps saying that the passwords dont match.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit on my computer and also in the VB program. Any help to get this to work would be wonderful. I have two weeks left in my class and need to have the back work done in about 6 days if I can get VB to work properly.

Thank you,
Inara

I'm pretty sure this piece of security snake-oil called GuardedID is installed on your host machine and is causing your problem - like in this case here, for example; but at least they have got instructions on their site how to disable it, and you probably should be able to uninstall it via Windows' control panel...

Considering they're also mentioning in their FAQ that their product also won't work with most games they're probably living in a "all that people use their computers for is email and web surfing" fantasy world, and it seems to be included as a drive-by install with several other programs, like virus scanners or keyboard drivers(sic!).

Thank you so much! This was really helpful. I will be sure to pass the information on to my Professor, incase this happens again to someone else in her class.
