Windows 7 64bit will not start on Ubuntu

Post by nethac »

Every time I try running Windows 7 64bit on VirtualBox I get the following error:

Code: Select all

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Verification of a knownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000221 (0x00072410 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.
It happens right after the logo video plays.

I am currently running Ubuntu 11.04 64bit.
I have also tried it in 10.04 and 11.04 32bit with the same result.
It does however work in the live copy of 11.04 32bit, I was able to setup the computer name and user name but I could not get pass the installing files part do to the limited 'live' drive size.
I have tested it with the OSE version from the 'Ubuntu Software Center' as well as the up to date copy from the "deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian natty contrib" repository.
I am using a iso of my own OEM disk from newegg but had the same issue when running off the true disk.
I also got the exact same error in VMWare player.

I can run Ubuntu in VirtualBox successfully.
Does any one have any suggestions about how to fix this issue?
Thanks.

Solved:

It seems that the dvd I got from newegg was the issue.
Even though it did successfully install windows unvirtualized to my computer many times.
I downloaded the 32bit iso from an official supplier and now it works.
