I've looked everywhere for an answer to this question and I hope I've put it in the right place on this forum. Apologies if I haven't.

I've used various tools to make a virtual copy of my laptop on virtualbox. My laptop is currently Windows 7 but I want to make it Linux but run Virtualbox with an image of my laptop. I think you get the picture.

Anyway, I've done this about 4 times now and every time everything completes fine but when I boot the VM it gets past the initial windows animated logo, gives me the sort of bluey Windows 7 screen like it's going to start and then BSOD's. Everytime! I've tried following all the instructions I've found posted on the web but still don't get anywhere.

Has anyone successfully done this?

Is it even possible?

Would it make any difference that my copy of Windows 7 Professional on my laptop was and MSDN version?

Any pointers would be VERY well received. I've got a few people at work that are wanting to do this and as yet I've had to tell them "I've managed to do it on VMware using VMware converter but can't get it to work for Virtualbox"! I really don't like VMware and I love Virtualbox so I'm desperate to find a way to get this to work.

Ok, I'll take pity. Some quick answers to your questions: (I'm sure someone has but not me), (I'm sure it is), (I doubt it). Answers have to be curtailed here because the subject is off topic. Ask in the correct forum (Windows Guests), and perhaps you might get more detailed responses.

"Using VirtualBox" is for issues with using and configuring the VirtualBox software itself. Not for trouble with particular guests or hosts.

Your issue isn't a virtualbox problem, and i think it has nothing to do with P2V but only with imaging Windows 7.

I had a problem when trying P2P (disk change), the new Windows 7 was unable to boot.
Booting on Windows 7 installation disk and used it to repair "boot" (i don't remember exactly how it's called by Windows 7) solved the problem.

Yikes! Sorry guys, first post and I put it in the wrong place! My bad mpack. Apologies! In my defence I wasn't sure where to put it because I wasn't sure if the problem I was having was something to do with the way I was using Virtualbox or to do with Windows.
